Schneevögel (german) = Snowbirds
Silhouettes of different kind of birds of prey on (large) windows, made with stencils and white "snow" spray for christmas decorations.

One winter, my father and I took the motorway, the fields on both sides, the whole landscape was deep frozen, everything was white, the sky was nearly indiscernible from the earth below. Last signs of life visible were birds of prey, perched on little trees, poles, here and there along our way.
My father knows nature well, he explained me, that with the all the snow and ice, the soil is frozen, the little animals are hiding now in their burrows, leaving their predators without nothing to hunt and to eat, so they have to turn to carrion, dead animals that died on the motorway, a risky business, as they are often killed by vehicles if they don't manage to get out of their way in time, and such feeding their peers, in turn.
